Vernon Parking Meters Vandalized Again

Parking meter thieves have been at it again in Vernon. RCMP say the 83 meters in the downtown core have been vandalized over the past several weeks in attempts to get money out of them. The meters are emptied regularly, so it’s difficult to say how much the thieves have been able to steal. But the damage to the meters is a far greater financial loss.Each meter can cost from $25 to $300 to repair. The RCMP have increased patrols in the area in order to catch the people responsible. The public is being asked to be vigilant when downtown and report any suspicious persons believed to be breaking into meters.
