The proposed budget includes a 2.9% water rate increase, consistent with the recently adopted 2017 Master Water Plan. Agricultural rates are proposed to increase 3.7%, consistent with the 2017 decision to increase agricultural rates by 3.7% per year for 3 years to more appropriately match total revenue from agricultural properties to the cost of supply. The rate increase provides additional funds for the capital program – both current and future. The proposed current revenue funding of the capital program is $5,042,000 (2017 – $5,585,000). The proposed transfer to the statutory reserve for future capital projects is $1,780,000 (2017 - $782,000).

The table indicates a fee increase of 3.9% not 2.9%. What gives?

According to this budget there will be a 3.7% increase for ag all Ag Rates and charges and a 2.9% increase for all domestic base rates, meter replacement fees and consumption rates.

The balance to make up the 3,9% revenue increase ($828,500) will come from other fee and income sources. (Truckload fees,,installation fees, allocation sold etc.)

We will see at the budget rates meeting.
