A former NHL enforcer is alleged to have been involved in an assault at a Vernon motel Tuesday night.Police were called to the Best Western Vernon Lodge around midnight where a 43 year old security guard said he'd been assaulted and the suspect, who had been drinking, had fled the scene on foot. The guard says he was pulled into the suspect's room and beaten about the face after asking the occupant to keep the noise down or face eviction. There was also a short struggle, resulting in damage to the premises.Police found the suspect's girlfriend and children in the room and also determined the man was an enforcer in the NHL, who played in the late 1990's.RCMP say they will issue a warrant for the suspect’s arrest if he doesn't turn himself in voluntarily. His name won't be released until charges are approved by Crown Counsel.(Pete McIntyre Aug 9)
