"UNDERTAKER" appointed to Vernon Airport Corporation

At the Committee of the Whole meeting this morning 3 new directors were appointed to the Vernon Airport Corporation. The resignation of Archie Stroh along with the council decision to expand the Airport Board by 2 directors was the reason for the new appointments. Rick Thorburn, Ross Burrows and Bill Baker were accepted as new directors. Surprisingly the decision was not reconfirmed at the council meeting in the afternoon.

Bill Baker was a 1972 CFL All-Star with Saskatchewan. Here is the write-up on him from the Hall of Fame:

His credo was "Your opponents are only as tough as you let them be" and throughout his career, "Baker the Undertaker" was known for his ferocious pass rush. Was named to the CFL All-Star team 4 times, All-Western team 5 times, played in the Grey Cup in 1969 and '72 and was named the Schenley Outstanding Defensive Player in 1976.
