Former Vernon mayor Sean Harvey has been given a one year conditional sentence for stealing from his expense account. Provincial court Judge Brad Chapman has ordered Harvey to spend the first six months under house arrest and the remainder under a curfew. Harvey will be on a year's probation after that and will have to do community work and pay back the city at least $300 a month. He pleaded guilty last month to breach of trust by a public official. Court documents indicate the 36 year old former broadcaster filed 90 false claims between 2003 and 2005, totaling more than $13,000. He's paid back just over $5,000 so far.
