Man guilty of murder in Penticton shooting that killed 3

PENTICTON, B.C. (CP) - Canoe.ca News
A jury has found a Penticton man guilty of three counts of second-degree murder and two of attempted murder in a shooting rampage in October 2004. The verdict against 26-year-old Dustin Paul was returned late Wednesday in B.C. Supreme Court after several days of deliberations. Several spectators in the packed courtroom began to sob as the verdicts were read, relatives of both the victims and the accused. Paul was charged after three men were shot dead at a popular party spot on the Penticton native reserve. The accused admitted he had used large amounts of cocaine, smoked marijuana and consumed countless beers in the 24-hour period prior to the shootings. Defence lawyer Chris Johnson indicates an appeal might be pursued, saying he believes several errors were made by the trial judge.
