A black-tie event has bolstered health care in Vernon. The Rise's inaugural Moonlight Serenade charity gala raised $24,982 for the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation. "Hosting a magical night of music, wine and food is the least we can do for such a great foundation," said Leona Snider, president of the Rise.
The foundation, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, raises funds for equipment at Vernon Jubilee Hospital and its associated residential care facilities. "We would like to thank The Rise for choosing the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation as the recipient for this event," said Jennifer Morrison, VJHF director of development. The Moonlight Serenade drew 150 guests, and included a four-course meal and an auction. The most sought after auction item was an opportunity for two people to attend the final round of the 2007 Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia.Tickets have not been available to the public since 1972 and they went for $17,000. Other auction items included a ski and snowboard adventure at Whistler/Blackcomb, a future case of ice wine from the Rise Cellars, membership for a year at the Rise's Fred Couples signature golf course and original works by local artists. Snider was overwhelmed by the success of the event. "The Rise will always be part of Vernon's community and due to the overwhelming positive feedback on this event, we are already planning for next year," she said.
