Baryla Keeps His Drive Alive-In More Ways Than One

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif.--One thing is for certain: wherever Chris Baryla is taking his cuts next year, he will travel in style. The 23-year-old from Vernon, BC is the new owner of a Hummer H2 after acing the 186-yard, par-3 17th at Empire Lakes GC Saturday during the third round of the Nationwide Tour’s Mark Christopher Charity Classic. Baryla’s 38th-place result may not be as lofty a spot as he envisioned when the week began, but he should find solace in the flashy new wheels. The showing was enough for Baryla to maintain his 50th-place position on the Nationwide money list. Should he be inside the top 60 at the end of the season, he will be a full-time starter on the Nationwide circuit in 2007. A late charge into the top 20 will promote Baryla to the PGA Tour.
