A contentious lawsuit between a Salmon Arm resident and a former mayor has been settled out of court. At issue is a letter to the editor sent by Colin Mayes to a local newspaper. While the municipality's insurance company 
will be paying the bulk of the legal costs, taxpayers will still be on the hook for some of the money.
