An accused double murderer made a two minute appearance in Vernon court Thursday. 45 year old Eric Fish appeared via video from federal prison, charged with the first degree murder of Jeffrey Drake. The decomposed body of the 60 year old Drake was found near Adventure Bay in August 2004. Police call it a drug related killing. New but unspecified evidence led to the charge being laid more than two years after the body was found. Fish's lawyer and the Crown agreed to put the matter over until April 26-th to fix a date for a preliminary inquiry.

Fish is also facing another first degree murder charge from the home invasion death of Bill Abramenko, which occurred around the same time. His trial on that charge before a judge and jury will begin January 9-th, and is scheduled for six weeks. Crown Counsel Peter Favell told KISS FM, the trial will be held in Vancouver after the judge ordered a change of venue. Favell sayys the reasons for the change are subject to a ban on publication and broadcast.
