There is interest in another halfway house in Vernon for parolees. Lisa Bayne, with Corrections Canada, says they have received two proposals from agencies interested in working with them to build a Community Residential Facility in Vernon. She says the proposals are currently under consideration and we'll know the successful bidder next month. Vernon's halfway house was closed after concern from politicians and the public following the death of 75-year old Bill Abramanko. Parolee Eric Fish, who will stand trial for the murder in January, had been awol from the facility for weeks.
