No Politician Raises

Starlee Speers, Standard Radio News The Sun.net

A Vernon councillor agrees with a committee decision that councillors should wait until before an election before deciding on a pay raise. Barry Beardsell says, it always looks self-serving when politicians vote themselves a raise. Beardsell also says, high salaries shouldn't be an incentive for people to run for public office and it just looks self serving when politicians vote themselves a raise. In March, former councillor Jim MacGillivray was asked by council to set up committee to look into the pay raise issue.
