Police are looking for a convicted sex offender wanted on a Canada-wide warrant who may be in British Columbia's Okanagan area. Gerald Richard McLean, 38, formerly of Enderby, B.C., failed to return to his halfway house in Vancouver on May 2, the RCMP said in a news release today.
McLean has previous convictions for sex offences and is considered a high-risk to reoffend. He was serving an eight-year long supervision order when he failed to return, the Vernon/North Okanagan detachment said. He's believed to be en route to this region because he has relatives in the Okanagan and his last two arrests occurred in the Enderby area. McLean also has a former girlfriend residing in Enderby. He was arrested last year after found hiding in the rear of the vehicle she was driving. The ex-girlfriend has been interviewed by police but denies seeing McLean.

He is described as Caucasian, standing 5-8, weighing 165 pounds, with long blond hair (ponytail) green eyes, a goatee, and numerous tattoos. Anybody having information concerning his whereabouts is urged to call the Vernon RCMP at 545-7171 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
