Ownership of 107.5 KISS FM is about to change. The Jim Pattison Broadcast Group announced Tuesday it's agreed to acquire the Vernon radio station, officially known as CKIZ FM, rom Rogers Broadcasting. Rick Arnish, president of the Pattison Broadcast Group, says its an important acquisition for the Kamloops-based company."With the consolidation going on in the radio industry, we felt this was a strategic aquisition that we had coveted for a long time, and with our stations in Kamloops and Kelowna, to have a station in Vernon, really makes great business sense as well." The Pattison group also owns CKOV and Power 104 in Kelowna, along with 26 other radio stations and three television stations in BC and Alberta.

The sale of KISS FM is subject to approval from the CRTC which Arnish believes will take about six months. Arnish says all staff members will be invited to stay with the Vernon station. "KISS FM is a great radio station. Great staff. Great team. We don't anticipate making any changes other than, we want to see what we can do to make the station that much better." Gary Miles, CEO of Rogers Media, Radio, says the radio landscape is changing. "The radio industry needs consolidation geographically to enable it to serve the needs of the community, listeners and clients. We are pleased Pattison Broadcasting has agreed to purchased the Vernon operation. Rogers has been proud to be part of the Vernon radio market for many years and to have been associated with the high quality of staff and management. Rogers is confident Pattison Broadcasting will continue to serve the community with the same high quality programming and sales values." The radio station began operations in 1947 as CJIB AM. It's been owned by Toronto based Rogers since 1989.
