Victim of Beating Sues RCMP

(Broadcast News) http://www.1075kiss.com/news/headlines/
A woman who claims Vernon RCMP ignored her calls for help while she was being beaten is suing the police for dereliction of duty. In June 2004 Gayle Hull called 911, but the phone was ripped from her hand by her ex-fiance, who beat her for the next 90 minutes until police arrived. Her lawsuit claims the ex-fiance repeatedly breached the conditions of his bail and continued to terrorize Hull and her children, while Vernon Mounties ignored her calls for help. RCMP later issued a public apology when Hull lodged an official complaint. She's suing because police made no promises that such a tragedy wouldn't happen again. Louisa Russell of Vancouver Rape Relief says it's grotesque that the RCMP are using taxpayers' dollars to fight Hull's accusations instead of settling the case.
