The city’s plan for an Okanagan Landing neighbourhood is getting a second look. Vernon council agreed Monday to discuss options for Cummins Road as part of its next meeting June 11. “I’d like to see it brought back for further discussion,” said Coun. Pat Cochrane. Recently, council gave two readings to an official community plan amendment that would see the former Lakers Golf site redesignated from residential and parks to tourist commercial. Another bylaw would see zoning shift from parks to tourist commercial and four-plex residential. Many residents have expressed concern that extending the dead-end Cummins Road will create traffic problems and they worry that allowing the Elks Lodge to move into the clubhouse will create noise and traffic issues. Cochrane called for a review after meeting with residents. “The residents have some ideas worth considering about development and the road network,” he said Monday. The proposed bylaw changes are scheduled to go to public hearing June 25.
