Vernon Councillors voted unanimously not to move forward with another Halfway House in Vernon. Councillor Buffy Baumbrough says, they want to wait until Eric Fish, the man accused of killing Bill Abramanko goes on trial. Councillor Barry Beardsell says, the community can't begin to heal until the question of what went wrong is fully addressed. Councillor Juliette Cunningham says, the community can't begin to move forward in the healing process until it's known what went wrong. Cunningham says, she understands that Corrections Canada wants to move forward with a halfway house but without public support it would be a waste of time.
Mayor Wayne Lippert and Councillor Jack Gilroy were both absent from the council meeting.
