Interior Health shelled out $1.4 million for a townhouse complex they have slated for demolition. Spokesman Cam McAlpine said the money came from the IH capital budget and not the hospital re-development budget.

The land, at 1905-32nd St. is needed as part of an $81 million expansion of the hospital. The property will house equipment, material and construction trailers.

There are 17 units in the complex, of which 15 are occupied. Residents are concerned about where they will live, but are pleased IH has come up with a package to help them financially. The tenants must be out of their homes by the end of February, 2008.
