Just the Facts, Sir.

Once again the City of Vernon has run an Alternate Approval Process ad on page A20 of the Morningstar. Although the ad is of the same size as the previous ads I posted on at Be Informed on the $38 cost to average taxpayer for new Library/Civic Building. Or should it be $73.65 ?? and I guess we should be happy they don't advertise in BOTH local NEWSPAPERS there are some notable changes:
  • There are no Library or RCMP logos.
  • The heading is now NEW LIBRARY/CIVIC BUILDING- FACTS
  • The borrowing costs comparision between a 25 year period as compared to a 4 year financing from existing reserves and surpluses has been dropped.
  • The original ad had stated that Council had committed to a construction of a new building that will provide 30,000 Sq. Ft. for a library and space to meet the future needs of the RCMP, Art Gallary, Museum and City Hall.

This new ad states that the Council has committed to the construction of the new building which will provide:

  • A home for the new Library,
  • A New Art Gallery
  • Office Space for City and RCMP

---------------------------

Don Quixote Observations: The first ad gave the City a little wiggle room as it would indicate that there would be 'space for the future needs' of several different tenants while in the new ad it is stated as a 'Fact' that the building will be the home of the New library and a New Art Gallery and provide office space for City and RCMP. Maybe in one of the Dark Side in-camera meetings the GVSC has indicated that they will be picking up the tab for the increased operating costs of the New Art Gallery. (Of course you know the GVSC has no money unless it reaches into the taxpayers pocket !)
