Re: In-Camera Meeting Pursuant to Section 90(1)(K) of the Community Charter
Meetings that may or must be closed to the public
90 (1) A part of a council meeting may be closed to the public if the subject matter being considered relates to or is one or more of the following:
(k) negotiations and related discussions respecting the proposed provision of a municipal service that are at their preliminary stages and that, in the view of the council, could reasonably be expected to harm the interests of the municipality if they were held in public;-----------------------------
Don Quixote Note: This appears to be a meeting between the Provincial facilitator and the Coldstream Council re the service reviews about the GVSC Function ? Why it should be held in-camera is questionable. Vernon City Council has not yet announced any Dark Side meeting to discuss the GVSC function and hopefully will hold any such meeting open to the interested public. In Camera meetings may occur for many reasons under section 90 of the Community Charter but they are not mandatory if a majority of council decide that the meeting can be open to the public.
This meeting may either be in place of the meeting described below or as a prelude to that meeting?
The public can attend this meeting that must start as an open meeting and is not closed until the Council votes on going in-camera under the correct section of the Act. Then they kick you out !

Greater Vernon politicians are teaming up to address some local issues. 16 politicians will be holding a joint meeting to resolve outstanding service concerns. Service review meetings have taken place over the past few month to address issues with water, parks and rec, and tourism and economic development. NORD Chair Jerry Oglow and GVS Chair Gary Corner both say these meetings have been helpful but have solved nothing. The Greater Vernon Governance Service Review Committee will convene a meeting and bring in a facilitator to expedite some resolution. No date for the meeting has been set.
