Vernon's Mayor is in Vancouver for the Union of BC Municipalities convention. Wayne Lippert says it is important to attend to discuss important issues and meet with ministers. Lippert says in many ways it is like a huge council meeting. Among the issues being discussed at the Union of BC Municipalities convention in Vancouver are resolutions from Vernon regarding homelessness and affordable housing. NORD has several agenda items including reducing em missions from outdoor burning and private property mining exploration.

High risk offenders will be one of the issues front and centre this week, as BC's civic politicians gather for the annual convention in Vancouver.The town of Oliver has two resolutions to be debated on the issue.The first says high risk offenders should not be allowed to locate in the communities where they committed their crimes.Mayor Ron Hovanes says the second deals with the drain on resources such offenders can have on small communities.
