Airport needs cash

by Jason Lamb -Oct 22, 2007 Castanet

The expansion of the Kelowna International Airport has spawned another 'Alternative Approval Process'. The city is looking to borrow nearly $46 million for the project, but is giving the public a chance to oppose it. The money will go toward expanding the airport terminal, increasing parking and several other major renovations. Eligible voters have until December 3rd to send in a letter of opposition, and if 10-percent, or roughly 8,500 people are opposed, the borrowing will have to go to a referendum.
