A six month study on the future direction of the three Okanagan Regional Districts is underway. The Central Okanagan Regional District has appointed three members to the study committee, including chair Robert Hobson, Peachland Mayor, Graham Reid and Central Okanagan East Electoral Area Director, Patty Hanson.
The North Okanagan Regional District (NORD) appointed Vernon Mayor Wayne Lippert, Armstrong Mayor Gerry Oglow and Electotal Area C director Stan Field. The three appointees are suppose to represent the interests of 'a large city rep, a medium city rep and an electoral area rep,' respectively.
The Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen has not yet announced their three reps.

Don Quixote Note: At yesterday's meeting the appointments must have been predetermined as Director Field was not present at the meeting to accept his appointment. He obviously must have been consulted beforehand by someone on whether he would accept such an appointment as the 'rural or electoral area rep'. A suggestion to refer the 'large city rep' back to the City of Vernon was ignored.
This has left us with out a resident taxpayer of Vernon being on a committee that may decide on the future governance of 3 regional districts.
