Of the 43 people who turned out for the forum on halfway houses last night in Vernon, 90 percent of them were with Corrections Canada.The discussion was cancelled just after it started because of a lack of participants from the community.Mayor Wayne Lippert and Councillor Juliette Cunningham were the lone members of city council to attend. Lippert told the group from Corrections they should go into the community and talk to the different interest groups they want discussions on the issue of a halfway house. He says most members of the community won't go to forums because council's already shut the door on the idea of a halfway house.
