Vernon residents will be casting their vote in January. A referendum has been called for the last Saturday of January on the library/civic centre building proposal. Mayor Wayne Lippert says the proposed building would house a number of organizations. “The building would be three stories high and would be home to an expanded library, an art gallery as well as the RCMP and civic offices,” says Lippert. He says the proposed building would cost about $31 million. “We are planning some open houses so we can give the public information about this issue.” The referendum will ask residents if they want to proceed with the library/civic complex proposal.
