NEW WESTMINSTER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Dec. 10, 2007) -

Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Inc. and British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) are pleased to announce the official opening of Starlight Casino, a full-service entertainment facility showcasing B.C.'s newest poker room, the newest gaming machines - some unique to B.C. - dining and an intimate show lounge featuring live local entertainment. Doors open to the public on December 11 at 12 noon. Starlight will then operate 24/7.

"British Columbia Lottery Corporation's vision is to have better gaming facilities with all the amenities that our players are looking for, from the newest in gaming machines to full-service restaurants and the finest in show lounge entertainment. Starlight Casino exemplifies this vision and we are proud to introduce such a first-class entertainment facility to Metro Vancouver," said Darryl Schiewe, Vice-President of Casino Gaming, BCLC.

Located at 350 Gifford Street in Queensborough, this new 100,000 square foot landmark offers the best in gaming entertainment including 850 slot machines, 45 gaming tables, a poker room as well as a private gaming room. Coming next year, players will be able to enjoy a great dining experience at the 450-seat luxurious Asian restaurant, Kirin, and a brand new, 1,000-seat, interactive sports bar from Alberta's pioneering and popular 'Schanks' team.

"What makes Starlight so special is the attention paid to every detail. From the huge amount of natural light flooding into the gaming area, to the exclusive features for our VIP players, to the quality of dining options and our unique approach of showcasing local talent at Redbar's show lounge," said Dave Gadhia, President and CEO of Gateway Casinos. "Starlight is a truly unique entertainment facility in Western Canada offering something for everyone."

BCLC conducts and manages casino, bingo and lottery gaming in the province, and has contracted with Gateway to provide day-to-day operational services for this facility. Starlight replaces the now closed Royal City Star Casino riverboat in New Westminster.

Starlight will host B.C.'s newest Responsible Play Information Centre, an initiative of the BC Partnership for Responsible Gambling. The Responsible Play Information Centres provide customer education related to responsible play and are a link to provincial programs to aid those with problem gambling issues. These centres are now available at many gaming facilities throughout the province as part of the commitment to responsible gambling by BCLC and its service provider.

BCLC is a provincial Crown Corporation reporting to the Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General through a Board of Directors. Its mission is to offer responsible gaming entertainment, generating income for the public good. Gaming in B.C. supports 6,000 charitable and community organizations throughout the province.

Gateway is one of western Canada's largest casino operators with properties in Langley, Burnaby, New Westminster, Kamloops, Kelowna, Penticton and Vernon in B.C. and in Edmonton, Alberta. The company was recently acquired by New World Gaming Partners Ltd.
