Fire At Seniors Home

Pete McIntyre 107.5 KISSFM
The cold weather was a factor in a fire in Okanagan Landing during the noon hour Friday. The crew building a new seniors home on Landign Road, across from the airport was using some heaters to keep warm when one of them malfunctioned, igniting some decking glue. Vernon deputy fire chief Lawrie Skolrood told KISS FM, the dozen or so workers got out safely although one man had a close encounter. "A gentleman jumped from about 12 feet up into the snow and seems to be okay. He suffered some singed hair but we're having the ambulance check him out anyway." There's no damage estimate, but the Okanagan Landing fire department managed to keep the fire contained to one area.
