Vernon's city clerk says the turnout for the first advance poll for the upcoming referendum was good. 293 people cast a ballot Wednesday at city hall. The final advance poll will be held Monday with regular voting day on the 26-th. City clerk Patti Bridal was expecting around 300 voters for the first day. She says there's 27,000 elligible voters for the referendum, and she says getting half that many would be considered an excellent turnout. She says the public will be welcome to visit city council chambers on voting night, to see the results posted.Residents are being asked if they support borrowing up to 30 million dollars for a new civic complex.

KISS FM will be presenting a special open line show on the complex Wednesday January 23 from 11am to 12pm. Questions from the public will be welcome. The guests will include Mayor Wayne Lippert, Administrator Leon Gous, councillor Barry Beardsell, and representatives from the Vernon Art Gallery, the Vernon Library and the RCMP. The Vernon Taxpayers Associaiton will also be given a chance to comment. KISS FM News Director Pete McIntyre will host the program.
