Vernon council met with the Minister of Health, doctors and officials with Interior Health to try and address doctor's concerns over funding and crowding at Vernon Jubilee Hospital. Mayor Wayne Lippert believes council was listened to and their concerns have been addressed.
Lippert says the expansion at the hospital has gone from 81 to 100-million dollars and doctors will be part of the expansion process. Lippert says there seems to be a willingness to work together. He says all of the concerns have been addressed, but says the aging population is going to be a pressure point for the next 30 years. Lippert says expansion of the Salmon Arm hospital will also help offset the problems at Vernon Jubilee.
