Audits are being conducted in Kelowna and Vernon over the cost of services being provided to their respective regional districts each year. The mayors of both cities hope the information will help BC Minister of Community Services, Ida Chong, make a decision on valley governance that won't cost Kelowna or Vernon taxpayers more money. Kelowna mayor Sharon Shepherd disagees with setting up special authorities for dealing with issues like air, transportation and water. "As mayors of the larger municipalities, we do get together and we likely could incorporate change quicker that looking at a much different regional district structure."
Chong will respond to the govenance report by the end of May.
DON QUIXOTE VS. CITY HALL When an American gets mad, he says "where's my Gun". When a Canadian gets pissed off he says "Where is my pen, I'm going to send a letter to the EDITOR". When the EDITOR won't publish his letter he sets up his own BLOG page. When I received enough support to get a Council Seat the dogma of the establishment became : "Better to have him inside the tent pissing out, than outside pissing in." (Only time will tell !)
