Vernon's mayor says the money put into the failed library civic complex proposal shouldn't be considered a waste. Wayne Lippert says, information about the need for more library and office space for the RCMP and city staff was given to the community. The Mayor says the three hundred and seventy thousand dollar bill for the failed library civic complex proposal is the cost of doing business. The final bill for professional fees, the counter petition and referendum was just over three hundred and seventy thousand dollars. The regional library board picks up one hundred and ten thousand of the costs. Lippert says because the city's need for more space haven't been met, they'll have to spend more money.
