The director for electoral area C says, people living in rural areas would not support amalgamation with Vernon. Stan Field says, a referendum would have to be called on the issue which he has no intention of doing and says, Vernon shouldn't either. "Vernon council should keep their nose clean and stay the hell out of the rural residences business is my opinion." Vernon mayor Wayne Lippert has suggested the electoral areas amalgamate or incorporate as a way to solve the governance issue.
