Vernon - Police take down three grow operations

This morning members from Vernon North/Okanagan Detachment acting on information provided by the public executed search warrants on three residences within Vernon and Coldstream. A male was arrested in each house at the time the police entered the residences, a large amount of marihuana plants and grow op equipment have been seized. One residence at 456 Rockland Dr had 1036 plants in the residence, due to the serious risk of fire at the house as a result of this grow operation the power has been shut off. A second house at 524 Upland Dr had 647 plants, and both of these houses are the in Municipality of Coldstream. The third house is at 1803 Pottery Rd in Vernon the search there located another 373 plants. This house will be posted under the Vernon Municipal Controlled substance remediation By-law. The seizure of this marihuana had it been able to reach the streets of Vernon would have provided the equivalent of 130 marihuana cigarettes for every High School student within the Vernon School District. The investigation is continuing in these searches, and at the time of this release the three subjects remain in custody.
