There will soon be increased police presence on North Okanagan streets. Nine new auxiliary police officers will officially graduate Saturday during a badge presentation at 10 a.m. at Vernon city hall. The auxiliary members are all volunteers, and RCMP spokesman Gord Molendyk says the program allows the individuals to serve their community. “They complement the uniformed (RCMP) members.” The auxiliary officers have to be on duty at least 150 hours per year. The new officers include six from Vernon, two from Armstrong and one from Lumby.
