City gives nod to hospital project

By Peter McIntyre 107.5 Kissfm

The push for more acute care beds at Vernon Jubilee Hospital has cleared another political hurdle. Vernon city council has granted a variance for Interior Health to increase its upcoming tower project from six floors to eight. Interior Health officials have said the extra two floors would be for shelled-in space that could be used for more beds if funding negotiations are successful. City planner Dale Rintoul says the expansion will also include a new trail from the hospital into Polson Park. "(It would) allow, rather than having all pedestrians go down the highway, along the edge, to have some other means of getting down to Polson Park for pedestrian circulation." Councillor Barry Beardsell didn't like the location of the trail, which would be off 29-th Street south of the Armoury building. He called it a prime piece of publicaly owned property that would be devalued by the trail going through it. Work on the new diagnostic and treatement tower is expected to start this fall.

Shelled in floors DOES NOT MEAN MORE ACUTE BEDS!!!

ALL IT MEANS is that there is a space

Such a shell at the Vancouver General hospital called
'THE PATTISON SHELL"!!-THAT FAMOUS MAN!--TOOK TEN LONG YEARS TO HAVE BEDS INSERTED IN IT!

This is a delaying tactic -NOTHING ELSE!

Note there has been no reponse from Abbot or Christenson Re the hospital petition for more acute care beds

THERE HAS NOT EVEN BEEN AN EXPLANATION TO THE TAXPAYERS AS TO WHO ARE 'INFUSION HEALTH'-AND WHAT IS THEIR CONTRACT AT OUR HOSPITAL!!
