Another Special Darkside meeting Tuesday at 9AM.

Update: Enjoyed talking with the few assembled staff and all the Council Members that showed up prior to been thrown out as is the requirement of the Community Charter. Unlike the last special Darkside Meeting no cabinet ministers or anyone else was in the audience. I would like to thank the City for providing a shady spot to sit in before I resume my daily walk back up the hill.

SPECIAL IN-CAMERA MEETING

A Special In Camera Meeting of Council will be held Tuesday, August 5 th, 2008 at 9:00 am in Council Chambers at City Hall. The meeting will be closed to the public pursuant to the following sections of the Community Charter:
90 (i) The receipt of advice that is subject to solicitor-client privilege, including communications necessary for that purpose
90 (k) negotiations and related discussions respecting the proposed provision of a municipal service that are at the preliminary stages and that, in the view of the Council, could reasonably be expected to harm the interests of the municipality if they were held in public
----------------------------
Don Quixote Note: The last Special Darkside Meeting on July 25 was also closed to the public under the same sections of the Charter.

Minister of Children and Family Development
Hon. Tom Christensen and Newly Appointed Minister of Community Development Hon. Blair Lekstrom were two of the four man contingent from the Province that joined a 5 man council (Beardsell and Nicol absent) to go into a Darkside Meeting.

The meeting was closed to the public under sections 90 (i) and 90(k) of the community Charter.

What could be the reason for this meeting? These are the two sections relating to their meeting:

(i) the receipt of advice that is subject to solicitor-client privilege, including communications necessary for that purpose;

(k) negotiations and related discussions respecting the proposed provision of a municipal service that are at their preliminary stages and that, in the view of the council, could reasonably be expected to harm the interests of the municipality if they were held in public;

So if the public know what they discuss it would harm their interest? Does that make sense?

Correct me if Im wrong...Didn't our Mayor run on the platform to be open and transparent?...I guess he must have forgot that...Fortunately, several of the electorate haven't..
