Coldstream fires its fire chief

By Peter McIntyre 107.5 KISSFM

Not much is being said by either side after the sudden dismissal of Coldstream's long term fire chief. Leo Lecavalier was let go by the district after close to 25 years of service but because it was a personnel matter, Mayor Gary Corner says the reason for the move is being kept confidential. The move has upset many members of the District's volunteer force but Corner doesn't think it will affect fire services. "It won't affect fire services. The firemen who are there are all professional and I'm sure they'll all be interested in protecting the community." Lecavalier isn't commenting at this point but a member of his family tells KISS FM , he's looking into legal action against the District. Deputy chief Lawrie Skolrood takes over as the acting chief but Corner says the final decision on a new chief will be up to the firefighters.
