Silver Star sale rumours shot down; politician scolded

By Peter McIntyre 107.5 KISSFM

Management of Silver Star Resort is calling a local politician irresponsible for suggesting the resort may be up for sale. Stan Field of BX-Silver Star made the comment at this week's NORD meeting. Silver Star vice president Michael Ballingall says there's no truth to the rumour. "For an elected official to suggest Silver Star might or might not be for sale, without checking his facts, not even picking up the phone to call one of us up at the mountain, I think it's very irresponsible for someone to say that". Ballingall says there's no plans to sell. "It's just the opposite. There's plans to expand the resort. To bring more infrastructure in there. We're negotiating with developers to build more accomodation because this is the part of the world that people want to come and play both in the summer and winter."Field says it appears his information was wrong. "If what I heard was not true, then I apologize for saying that." Field won't reveal who his source was. The resort and Big White have been owned by the Schumann family of Australia since 2001.
