Okanagan Shuswap Liberals are getting closer to choosing a candidate for the next federal election. Vernon resident Janna Francis has filed papers to seek the nomination, vacated by city councillor Buffy Baumbrough who stepped down in June to focus on municipal politics and her family's business. Francis is the president of the local Liberal association, and a social worker. Lorraine Kastelen, the election readiness chair for the association says a nomination meeting will likely be held this month but says the date is set by the federal Liberal party. Kastelen is not aware of any other potential candidates at this point. She would prefer a female candidate is chosen after leader Stephane Dion made a pledge to have one third female candidates for the next election.

Nice to see that Baumbrough is now going to focus on the City of Vernon-about time she has done nothing so far-and she only has 3 and one half months left since nobody in their riht mind would vote for her again.
