Vernon Councillor Considers Serving in Coldstream

Starlee Speers Astral Media Radio (Vernon)

Serving on Vernon council is like having a part-time job on top of a full time job according to one councillor. Pat Cochrane says that's why he won't be running for re-election this November. Cochrane who was first elected in 1996 and is in his fourth term made the announcement at Monday's council meeting. He says the afternoon council meetings are time consuming when he's also running his business in Downtown Vernon. Cochrane is not leaving politics completely however, he says he's considering running for Coldstream council which meets in the evenings.

Good on Pat. I think he would be a puff of fresh air and for all the right reasons.

Let's see if he can stay awake better in the evenings than he does in the afternoons.

Would not be difficult to be better than anyone on Coldstream council-however the way he always wants to spend money makes one wonder if Coldstream taxpayers can afford him-especially after the glass plant closure announcement and resulting tax effects. Perhaps Coldstream would also take Flippert,Baumbrough and Gilroy, otherwise they will be unemployed.

Good on Pat...Let's hope he actually runs for Mayor...Some of the alternatives (ie: Mr KISS and the CPA) are scarey.

What a ringing endorsement from a cartoon character who wears tights. Im sure if we wait long enough Larry, Curly and Moe will also support KISS for mayor as well
