Slot Machine Limit passes in Council.

The City council by a narrow 4-3 vote (Lippert, Nicol and Gilroy opposed) decided to amend the zoning requirements and limit the number of Slot Machines in the City of Vernon to 300.

This will not limit the new Casino presently under construction to that number as they will be 'grandfathered' in for the 400 slot machines that were part of their literature and proposal in their original approval for relocation and expansion. (The relocation vote passed by a narrow 4-3 vote in December of 2007.)

The number of slots that will eventually go into this building is up to the owners of the Slot Machines, namely BCLC. They will be able to put in up to 400 as a non-conforming use.

A limit on the number of tables was not included in this new bylaw and therefore although they indicated in their original proposal that they would include 2 poker tables and 6 other game tables and 2 electronic tables (Poker and Roulette), BCLC could choose to increase the number of tables allowed in the new Casino.
