It was standing room only for last night's forum for the six candidates for Mayor of Vernon. Questions from the floor included the candidates stance on the proposed Hesperia development, how to resolve the odour problem from the Ogogrow operation in the Commonage. Also of concern were the issues of urban sprawl and a lack of good paying jobs. For the most part if was a pretty tame event, with Councillor Cunningham taking a couple of shots at the Mayor and Rick Thorburn trying to set himself apart by saying he was a one issue candidate who wants to annex the BX and Swan Lake. The next opportunity to see the candidates in action is Thursday at the Performing Arts Centre.
