The International Centre for Sustainable Cities and Lifestyles has formed a partnership with the Okanagan Indian Band and the City of Vernon Planning Department to promote youth involvement in creating sustainable cities. The Youth Engagement Coordinator will undertake a 250 hour, three month internship, and will work to involve young people from the Okanagan Indian Band (OKIB) and Vernon in community visioning and sustainability planning initiatives.

This position supports the City of Vernon’s Guiding Principle of creating a youth friendly city, assists in fostering improved youth engagement in the community’s future and contributes to strengthening the relationships among youth throughout the Vernon area. Through community visioning, asset mapping, model building and photo visioning, the coordinator will facilitate the development of a youth vision for the City and the Band.
