An Okanagan man who is on trial for murder in Saskatoon says he confessed to the murder of a street person in Vernon in 2003. Brian Robert Casement says he murdered Scotty Hauser in Vernon back in 2003, but he has never been charged. Vernon RCMP recommended a murder charge against Casement in 2007 but the crown has not brought charges against him. Casement says he strangled hauser over a $100 debt over crack cocaine. An autopsy determined Hauser died of cocaine overdose. Hauser's body was found June 12, 2003 by someone who was rummaging through a dumpster behind the Sandman Inn on 32nd Street in Vernon. Casement who is 59, is on trial in Saskatchewan for the 2002 murder of a Saskatoon woman.
