A boil water notice has been issued for much of Coldstream. Water Manager, Al Cotsworth, says a sewage lift station overflowed on the weekend and some untreated sewage flowed into Kal Lake.A precautionary notice has been issued for people who receive their water from the East Kalamalka Intake.
Kal Secondary School and Kidston Elementary are not affected.
RDNO – Water recommends that ALL customers in the affected area drink boiled water or a safe alternative. Until further notice, water intended for the following uses should be boiled for one minute:
Boiled water should then be refrigerated in a clean, covered container. Customers may also choose to use bottled or distilled water, or water that has been filtered through a well-maintained treatment device. Water Filters should have the designation "Absolute one micron Certified NSF Standard #53". RDNO -Water is taking additional measures to reduce risk, and a notification will be issued when the risk subsides. One of these measures is to turn off the East Kal Intake and we are supplying this area with Duteau Creek water. Customers may find a change in their water quality including color and hardness.
