Library Update

Starlee Speers - Vernon 105.7 SUNFM

The Vernon library steering committee is apparently looking at new locations for the expansion, but they're top secret. Mayor Wayne Lippert says the library steering committee has the option of expanding at the current location, or moving off site. Lippert says new properties would likely be private and negotiations would have to occur. Lippert says he expects we'll hear some decisions soon but doubts there any construction work started this year on a new library.

Before the Library begins any expansion, would it not be appropriate to find out what the public wants, including the competition from the internet for information?

When was the last the time the average person was in or even near the current library in Vernon. Some might not even know where it is.

The library board is still running roughshod over the public. Why don't they hold a public meeting in Vernon to here from the taxpayers?
