Residents of Middleton Way witnessed a very bizarre hit and run in their neighbourhood Tuesday night. Vernon police say just before midnight, residents watched as a Jeep Cherokee deliberately pushed a car onto the sidewalk, then pushed another vehicle several hundred metres down the street. "In all, the jeep pushed or moved four different vehicles either onto the sidewalk or down the road, causing several thousand dollars in damage before taking off," says RCMP spokesman, Gord Molendyk. "An observant neighbour called police with a description of the jeep. Police were able to locate and stop the suspect vehicle on Highway 6 near 27th Street."
Molendyk says four Vernon teens, two 16-year-old girls and two men, ages 18 and 19, were taken into custody. The female driver is facing charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failure to remain at the scene of an accident. Molendyk says the other three will also be facing charges. He says alcohol was definitely a factor.
