Vernon council has decided that the jewel of the city needs some polish. Mayor Wayne Lippert says over the next six weeks the public can give input on how they'd like to see Polson Park improved. Lippert says he would have liked to have the park fixed up for the Olympic torch relay but realizes that's likely not a realistic time line. He says there's about a million dollars in the coffers to work, which was the insurance payout from the destroyed grandstand.
