Highway 97A widening begins

Penticton Herald:
Transportation and Infrastructure minister Kevin Falcon and Shuswap MLA George Abbott announced Friday that construction is now underway on widening Highway 97A in the Township of Spallumcheen. The $33.7-million project will widen 4.2 kilometres of the highway from two lanes to four lanes between Larkin and Crozier roads. “The widening of this busy stretch of highway will make travel much safer,” Falcon said. “Investments in key infrastructure projects like these also help strengthen and expand the economic vitality of the Okanagan and Shuswap.” Construction also includes a new interchange with two roundabouts at the ramps onto the highway and a local road to connect Highway 97A with the interchange. It is estimated that this project will create more than 200 direct jobs.

I wonder why the Liberal "Mute MLA" candidate for Vernon was not included in this announcement. Do they know something?

How many times has this project been announced so far?
