There'll be a change of command at the Vernon RCMP in a couple of months or so. Spokesman Gord Molendyk says 47 year old Superintendant Steve McVarnock will be taking on a new challenge, the force's V division based out of Iqualuit. With the posting he also gets another promotion, to chief superintendant. McVarnock was just promoted to superintendant from inspector two weeks ago. He's been the commander of the Vernon/North Okanagan detachment since 2006, transfering from Kelowna.
